Turnarounds

When the problem is bigger than a project.

Sometimes there isn't one system to build. The business is underperforming, several things are wrong at once, and the hard part is deciding what to fix first.

The work

A turnaround engagement is operating work. We come in alongside leadership, find what's actually constraining the business, put the constraints in an order that respects cash and capacity, and implement against that order.

What it looks like

  • Diagnosis — where the money is going, where it's leaking, and which constraint is binding right now
  • Sequencing — what gets fixed first, because everything at once fixes nothing
  • Implementation — building the systems the plan depends on, not just recommending them
  • Measurement — agreed numbers, reviewed on a cadence, so progress isn't a matter of opinion

What this is not

Hipcraft is not a restructuring advisory, an insolvency practice, a law firm or an accounting firm. We don't do formal restructuring, refinancing or creditor negotiation. This is operating turnaround — making the business work better — and when a situation needs the other kind of help, we'll say so.

Engagement structure

Turnaround work is normally a paid engagement like any other. In a small number of situations where the work can materially change the value of the business, we'll consider alternative structures that combine a base engagement with performance participation. That's a case-by-case conversation, not a standing offer, and it's never a substitute for the business being able to fund the work.

Start

Not sure whether it's a project or a turnaround?

That's a normal place to start. Describe the situation and we'll tell you honestly which one it is.
